The new Hot Docs website is now available…containing all the
Docs For Schools info you need to begin the school year.
There is a new drop down menu for Docs For Schools on the
home page….
www.hotdocs.ca. You will
recognize most of the heading names in the drop down, but Fall/Winter Program
now includes what used to be called Docs For Schools Monthly, and Gender
Matters. It will make sense once you click.
All Docs For Schools programs are available to any teacher,
grade 7 – 12 throughout the province….and all programs are free. An
education package for each film will also be available as a pdf for download.
Docs For Schools Fall/Winter program:

screenings throughout the months of October –

Bloor Hot Docs Cinema – 506 Bloor St W, Toronto
·
Often partner with other organizations, tie-in
the screening with special dates (ie Bully Awareness and Prevention week), and
when possible offer discussion with special guests following a screening.
For our first screening SPEED SISTERS, will be in
conjunction with the World Press Photo exhibition. Attend the
screening at 10am, have lunch in The Annex or the Food Court at Brookfield
Place (one floor below the exhibition) and then have your students view the
exhibition. Two significant, in sync events…and both are free.
Online booking for the film will appear on the page Thursday, September 17.
There will also be a special Teacher Evening happening at
Brookfield Place on Wednesday, September 30. Email me if interested to
learn more about this event.

request….librarians can be the best lead teacher in the school
In-Theatre:

10 Hot Docs Festival films screened exclusively
for students

Filmmakers usually attend their screening for
Q&A with students, and when available the film subjects too

2 screenings daily, 10:00am and 1:00pm
·
